Residential Care

We believe it is important for children and young people with a history of trauma to have a safe environment and dedicated support to allow them to heal. This is why we provide holistic support in a residential setting for young people aged 12 to 26 with multiple and complex needs as a result of the trauma they have experienced in their lives.

This trauma may involve being in the care system, criminal justice, domestic abuse, sexual trauma, family difficulties and other scenarios which have been deeply impactful to the young person and could be detrimental in how they grow and move forward in life. This support is designed for the hardest to reach young people who find that other residential homes do not meet the level of support needed for their circumstance.

Located in rural settings, each house offers a calm and peaceful environment for young people to heal. Our houses are set up as a family home, with routines such as cooking dinner and set sleeping times. This allows young people to have support any time they need while giving them boundaries to help them live independently in the future.

“Up2us is a fantastic group, great people. They’ve made me into the lively person I am today. They’ve helped build up my confidence, my communication skills and they’ve taught me that there’s always going to be someone I can rely on.”

Living in our houses gives young people the chance to develop:

  • Independent living skills
  • Building trusting and supportive relationships
  • Managing conflict
  • Support to voice how they feel in complicated scenarios
  • Dealing with anxiety and complex emotions that arise as a result of trauma

No young person is the same, and we take a holistic approach to the support we offer. As well as supporting their emotional and mental health needs, we help them to manage their individual circumstance so they can live independently in future, whether that involves financial support and employment, family and caring resources, or navigating the criminal justice system.

We do creative activities, spend time outdoors, come together to celebrate birthdays and festivities.

We have 3 houses and 1 independent living facility in East Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire, which allows us to offer spaces to 10 young people. Each house operates with 6 full-time staff, one manager, plus holiday cover.

The independent living facility is located within the same grounds and supports one young person to make the transition from a care setting to independent living.

We accept referrals from local authority social work services and health and social care partnerships. Visit here for more information.

“There’s not a lot of places I could name that have met my needs and Up2Us went above and beyond to do that. They weren’t afraid to try new things that other people wouldn’t necessarily have thought of or were willing to do. Up2Us respected me and my wishes much more than any other placement I’ve ever been to and they are without a doubt the most open and honest placement I’ve come across. But not only that, they were honest in a way that kept me safe, respected, and supported no matter whether it was good or bad news.”
